There are myriad of bars where you can get good booze and many food joints that offer amazing, mouth-watering burgers and Garage 88 happens to offer both. You’ve got good food and good booze all in one “garage”.
Soguilon Foods Corporation, the Company behind restaurants such as The Ostrich Farm, Oinky’s and, Garage 88 Burgers and Beers had their first Garage 88 branch in BGC. It has been strongly running for already 6 years now and ensuing its huge success are their two branches located in Paranaque and in Katipunan.
Garage 88 Katipunan, more than a year old, is sited on the 3rd Floor of the Kopi Roti Building. The bar restaurant can accommodate 120-150 people to accommodate customers who want to throw birthday / party celebrations in the bar restaurant.
The feel of the place is very much similar to entering an apartment of a motorbike enthusiast. It features an industrial design with accents and pieces that are very rugged, stark and strong. But at the same time, it also very homey, comfy, and rested especially if you’ve got your crew with you.
Everything from the orange high chairs, brick and wooden walls down to the brown couches will set the tone for the lax ambiance of Garage 88. “Designing the place for Garage 88 is an easy one because I already had a clear idea of what the place should look and feel like.”
Kristine Soguilon-Lim, the founder of Soguilon Foods Corp. shares with us that the first branch of Garage 88 located in BGC was formed through an idea that it would be a great location for car enthusiasts to have a place where they can just hang out and chill; hence the name, “Garage”. The number 88 paired with it was a symbolic and meaningful matter for Kristine because her name has a total number of 8 letters and her maiden name Soguilon also has 8 letters.
Garage 88’s menu spans from their specialty flame-grilled burgers, appetizers, soup and salads, desserts, all day breakfast to local rice pair favorites. What makes their menu uniquely Garage 88 is the taste, the flavors, the presentation which are all representative of what Garage 88 is – your go-to casual comfort food.
They also have a wide array of alcohol from their bar menu. From beers, shakes, sodas and juices to house wine, signature cocktails and liqueur.
First on our table is the Chicken Caesar Salad. The salad leaves are crispy and fresh tossed in Caesar dressing which Garage 88 makes themselves, topped with croutons, bacon strips, parmesan cheese and grilled chicken breast. And I can attest that even their healthiest dish on the menu is still irresistibly good.
