one of the good places
Smile 2012-08-08
Every weekend, the bay area of SM Mall of Asia gets really crowded. A lot of people scrambling to find places to have dinner and eventually to go drinking with their friends. But my friends and I have been going to the same place every time since the others would usually rush to the more popularly-knowned hideouts. This one, even though it's not as famous as its neighbors, still provides really good food and as the night wears on, good entertainment as well. This place is worth checking out.

a chill and party place
Smile 2012-03-29
The restaurants the line up the Seaside Drive in the MOA complex are quite unassuming during the day. But as the beautiful sunset of the Manila Bay distracts you and holds your attention for a while, this strip turns into a bustling bar strip, awaiting for the visitors who are in the mood for some good time.

Hearing the bar would make one think of endless beers and other alcoholic drinks, along with greasy peanuts and calamares. But UNO Pizzeria is more than just that. Inside is a very spacious place, that serves good food, and provides an even better ambiance... perfect for your group of friends.

We tied some pizza with four variants; we wanted to try different kinds without having to pay so much. And we weren't disappointed with how they tasted. Some were sweet, while some had the classic taste of a pizza. It was like eating a fusion of old and new. The ribs however was a sure win. It was tender and the glaze wasn't too sweet. The potato wedges were crunchy on the outside and moist inside.

With the DJ playing great songs in the background, it would be impossible to not have fun in this place. After all, that is UNO's main intention... to bring you fun. And of course they have succeeded in that.

More fun a the bay area!
Smile 2012-03-27
Uno pizzeria aside from being a hang out place at night,it is also a cool place

to enjoy an Italian treats. They have a wide choices of pizza you can choose from.

as for me, i was really fascinated by their seafood pizza topped with big shrimps

and the crust was poured with lots of cheese. it may look so simple as compared

to those pizza that are overflowing with toppings, but better not judge Uno's seafood pizza

by just the look of it because it has a very rich flavor,

Adding up to my excitement is the cold wind blowing on me,

and the relaxing sound of the waves gently whispering on my ears.

it's more fun eating a seafood pizza along the bay area,

Eat's a Date: A Night at Uno Pizzeria
Just OK 2012-01-26
I was enthusiastic to take on the challenge of covering my first OpenRice event, and I'm glad I came to enjoy the experience, with food as the star of the show.

Organized by the people behind OpenRice Philippines as a “mini-eyeball”, several site members and an assortment of guest bloggers and friends were invited to Uno Pizzeria to mingle, sample and most of all, have fun!

Uno Pizzeria Ristorante Bar, an Italian-American-Asian fusion-themed joint, is located at Pasay’s San Miguel by the Bay, among the offshoot of restaurants that lined the strip. The façade of the resto was painted in red and black, quite like a playing card suit, while the interiors were austere white (even for the chairs and tables).

The rest of the room is spacious. Neon blue lights accented the dining area, while fiery red donned the mini-bar. Mini-bar, you say If neon lights, mirrorballs and DJs were any indication, let me clue you in later…

Pride of place: the bestseller, Four Seasons Pizza

We started the night with a hefty Four Seasons Pizza (that consisted of West Side Shrimp Pesto, Tandoori Chicken Mango, Uno’s White Pizza, and Ruby Ribs, if I wasn’t mistaken). Among the three out of four variants I tried out the shrimp pizza won me over, as I am perpetually in love with shrimps slathered with white cheese. Good thing they came out with a similar pie, the Uno's Seafood Pizza, entirely indulgent with calamari and more shrimp. The Tandoori Chicken Mango wasn’t bad either, if you’re into a more savory, Asian bite.

Uno's Seafood Pizza

Tender and delicious: Ruby Ribs

The main entrée came shortly, and it was a revelation. Behold the Ruby Ribs, said to be Uno’s specialty – it was a juicy piece of bones and meat, tender to the bite and the sauce seasoned just right. Our platter was served with ‘Tato Wedges, although the menu says entrees are to be served with buttered vegetables with your choice of mashed potatoes or rice, or pasta with soup.

A plateful of comfort! But wait, there's more!

And with that the night just got started. We had appetizers of Buffalo Wings (not spicy or crunchy as I assumed) and Grilled Chicken Salad Wraps (light and filling). The only thin crust pizza came, good for the health-conscious as it was strewn with lettuce and tomatoes. Two kinds of pasta were served: the Pesto Chicken Parmigiana and the Jumpin’ Jambalaya (pomodoro-style, smattered with ham, sausage, shrimp and chicken). While being a noodle head, the accompanying sauces were quite an overwhelming combination – mildly sour (in the case of parmigiana), and not the usual savory tomato (with the Jambalaya). I felt that the flavors could have been improved, as the servings were good (for 4, at least) and the toppings adequate.

 Apparently inebriated and full :)

I was appeased by the next entrée, a juicy, smoked chicken chop with mild-tasting sauce. We also had Chicken Barbeque Quesadillas (tasty, filled with cheese and smothered by toasted but soft tortilla wraps). And in case you wondered, we gulped the bulk (there were so many!) down with iced tea and a couple of mixed-drink towers (Margarita and Weng Weng).

For the encore, it was apt to have a meaty deep dish pizza. Being an inveterate bread eater, I had no qualms with the quality of the pies. The baked dough was soft in texture, whether thin or regular or deep dish. As mentioned earlier, I preferred cheese-overloaded and seafood-strewn pizzas, although Uno’s other variations suited my tastes too.

Eat's a Date: OpenRice, manager Girlie, et al

Our party was rather small, but the beauty of holding an early dinner was that as the night wore on, the vibe of the place evolved. Featuring an in-house DJ, R&B grooves as musical ambiance played as we ate. Around eight, when we were just about full, some guests were pouring in looking for a quick drink (hence the mini-bar). And up until the crack of nine, the aural pace slowly crept with dance tunes and current pop ditties! The pizzeria was converted to a lounge by the sweep of an hour! As we left the room with a crowd assembled near the entrance, I had to say that under the spot’s initially relaxed demeanor lives a frenetic spirit.

Smile 2012-01-16 (Related Review)

UNO Pizzeria is definitely not all about pizzas and pastas, but to tell you guys honestly we were served with variety of pizza. Yes to the point that you cannot take it anymore. To me everything is awesome from the appetizer down to the booze. Let me share them with you one by one and in consecutive order. I know you can get really hungry by looking at these photos (pardon me for that) tongue but I really need to share these. . . as we all know sharing is caring!

Four Seasons Pizza
Correct. It is made with four types of pizza flavors thus, different toppings and sauces that blend with it. It is one of their Bigger Better Pizzas It is like having your choice of four ultimate flavors in one big pizza. Nice! Could cater to more that 10 heads that will surely be an awesome party treat for your barkada. So what are the said four flavors They are Tandoori Chicken Mango, West Side Shrimp Pesto, Ruby Ribs and Uno’s White Pizza.

Uno's Seafood Pizza
I so love seafoods not just in a pasta dish but it also work well in pizza. Just like this one which is a little salty in nature but superb in taste. The thick crust can be eaten without any leftovers. The seafoods on it are extremely satisfying.

Ruby Ribs
Here comes the entree and it was worth the wait! Steamed rice was not served that night but it was absolutely fine with me, otherwise all of us will have in no time a so-called carbohydrate overload due to the extreme portion of pizzas and pastas we've ingested. shocked It tasted somewhat like baby back ribs coated with delicious serving of hickory sauce. Served with buttered veggies and mashed potatoes.Delicioso!

Buffalo Wings This is not as spicy as I have expected but I liked how it tasted. Not the normal buffalo wings that I used to eat but as great tasting only that it is not covered with chili flakes. Best eaten with rice (at least for me) smile Though a good beer match as well.

Pesto Chicken Parmigiana
Pesto and parmigiana in one. I'm loving this place really and their generous portion size. I'm getting addicted to eating pizzas lately and this place offered not just a handful for us to try on but seems to be a never ending of taste testing their best offerings. The pesto is mild in real pesto taste and the breaded chicken was well-fried and not to crust. Matched my taste for a breaded chicken fillet.

Jumpin’ Jambalaya
You will really have to jump for its delicious and different taste. It is a one-dish meal type of offering that is filled with variety of meat, vegetables, stock and its core ingredient - pasta (instead of rice). Inspired by a native America dish that is nutritionally good and satisfying. Remember to me it is a one dish meal thus, can be eaten on its own without any meat siding whatsoever. smile I would like to take note the obviously fresh veggies included on the recipe.

I forgot how they call this..but it is a tortilla-type of crust for a pizza. It is brittle yet oozing with mayo flavor. Not my type though but I was able to consume a slice just so I can determine how it really taste like. Mostly with veggies and nice dressing to compensate for the general outcome of flavor.

To be able to digest everything we had this house-blend iced tea. I did not forget to have lemon wedge in my glass for I love iced teas with lemon hint. For me that is how a refreshing iced tea must be.

Fulfilling. Healthy. Sinful. Yummy. There's a variety. For big group serving. That's all I can say.

Due to space constraint I still have another review for Uno Pizzeria's food. . .

You are NUMBER 1 UNO PIZZERIA
Smile 2012-01-16
It was just the first week of January 2012 when OpenRice Eat's A Date event shared my calendar of activities this month. I can never turn down such a great tasting invite as this. I'm always grateful to be part of this activity. This time around is at one of the remotest place that I've attended so far. It was UNO Pizzeria at the Seaside Drive of SM MAll of Asia. Finding this resto-bar is not to much of a hassle for me because I've been eyeing to eat here last year using a free voucher from a group buying site which unfortunately expired. Good thing I never had to cash out because this is exactly where Eat's A Date event is happening that Saturday night (January 7).

When I went inside it was so huge and spacious. They even have al fresco seating for those who wanted to feel and breathe the air at seaside. There were lots of clubs and restobar lining that drive and this is one which has the loudest music and great foods too! smile

While we were waiting for the rest of the OpenRicers and bloggers to arrive, there was this fireworks display at the far side of the drive. Most of us stayed outside for a couple of minutes and captured the colorful and loud bangs of fireworks that lit up the night sky.

Here's how the interior looks like. Spacious, clean, well-ventilated and is just beginning to accept guests. For everyone's knowledge it is Saturday night. Hence, a gimmick and party night. In no time as hours go by it began to be occupied little by little with party people. smile The setting says it clearly.

At the other side of the restobar was this lounge where you can directly order for your cocktail drinks and cerveza while enjoying the mood created by party, pop and rock musics.

To genuinely create such mood here's the gorgeous DJ or music arranger that night. He's at the elevated floor for easy viewing of guests. From time to time he changes music even if it was half-way done. But that's alright as all of us are enjoying the dance music.

Situated at the other end is this slim fridge containing the latest liquor in town, Manila Beer!

The menu which more of like a magazine or a creatively done comic book. Inside you can see lots of interesting pizza flavors and oh so good beer match dishes. See my next review on what we've got that night. You might be surprised with the portion sizes and quantity! A true bon apetit!

Uno Pizzeria Eat's a Date Party!
Just OK 2012-01-12
Ambiance
It has white tables, white chair, white walls and a couple of black and red leatherette cozy couches. However, if you look up, there is a disco globe and stylish lightings. The place was complete with bar amenities such as a large post with LCD Tvs, a DJ area and a bar. The place was spacious and has an outdoor area if you prefer hearing the live band outside or want to enjoy some fresh sea breeze.

Food

The food was pretty good. However, I noticed that most of them were sweetened to adopt the Filipino taste like the buffalo wings, chicken barbecue and seafood jambalaya.

On the otherhand, the creamy pesto chicken parmigiana was a very light in taste. It was like the pasta was a staple food to the tasty breaded chicken that had parmesan.

The quesadilla was delicious! It was served hot and fresh so we got enjoy the melted cheese.

The soggy and saucy extra thin pizza did not impress me at all. I was expecting it to be creamy but I got the opposite.

I liked their thicker pizza especially the four season pizza which I think is the most convenient to order when in groups. They had wheat dough and the texture was just right. The ingredients and flavorings were also very generous.

Service
To be honest, I couldn't quite tell you about the service except that the waiter was very friendly to answer my inquiries. In terms of food handling, I could see that the waiter was well trained in handling the pizza trays and the dishes. I would also like to note that all the food served was hot and fresh. However, it does require some waiting time.

A Day by the Bay
Smile 2012-01-09
I had the privilege to be invited again by OpenRice for another Eat's a Date event held at UNO Pizzeria Ristorante Bar in SM Mall of Asia, San Miguel by the Bay. At first, I thought that I was just going to a regular pizza place but I was wrong, UNO is more of a restaurant/bar complete with a dance floor, strobe lights and bouncers at the front door.

Ambiance

 The Scene

Just like an ordinary restaurant, there are also tables and chairs outside for those who prefer to dine al fresco. I was lucky that night because while I was taking photos outside, the mall had a show of fireworks display in the sky.

 The Dining Area

White color dominates the environment inside UNO. The tables are situated in such a way that if people come in groups, they can put the tables together, talk and just have fun while eating. The dining hall is huge and the mirror at the wall creates the illusion that the place is even bigger. There are also restrooms at the back of the restaurant which I wish they would do something to make it more sanitized and clean.

Food

Here are some of the dishes I recommend:

   Four Seasons Pizza

   Uno's Seafood Pizza

The manager of UNO is very generous and served us a lot of dishes in their menu. First we had a 16" ( good for 5-6 ) Four Seasons Pizza (Php686) which gives you a choice of four pizza flavors. They also gave us a pan of Uno's Seafood Pizza (Php656), with toppings of roasted garlic, shrimps, mussels, calamari and fish fillet with spring onions. I am a huge pizza fan and I love both because there's lots of toppings and each slice is big enough to satisfy one's craving.

   Jumpin Jambalaya

I also had a serving of Jumpin Jambalaya (Php313), which is a type of pasta dish served with blackened tiger shrimp, chicken, sausage and ham in spicy jambalaya sauce. All of the dishes at UNO is good for sharing.

   Chicken BBQ Quesadilla

For snack, we had Chicken BBQ Quesadilla (Php222). It is best to eat while warm and the cheese melts in your mouth.

   Margarita Tower

A bar wouldn't be complete without its selection of drinks. Towards the end of our dinner, we had a tower of Margarita and Weng Weng.

   Cheers!

I gained a new friend that night. smile

Service
The waiters at UNO are very polite and they serve the food really fast. The price is not too expensive because every dish is good for two or more persons so if you're looking for a place to just hang out with your friends while enjoying good food, drinks and music, UNO is the place to be.

To sum it all up, my experience at UNO PIZZERIA was a blast, just like the fireworks display that night, my day by the bay was magical.

Eat a Date with Open Rice
Smile 2012-01-08

lol The picture is a bit dark since my cellphone camera do not have a flash so pardon if the picture quality is not that good. This is my first to have an eyeball with the staff of open rice.

there are parts of the Pizzeria has a nice lighning so this one is much better. The interior design not bad actually they even have a DJ inside to dish out some music.

This is the bar of Uno Pizzeria were I was able to talk with their bar personnel while waiting for the other guest of Open Rice and was advice that their first openning in the place was not a pizza parlor and that since business was bad they change it to a pizza cum bar resto and is now planning to open a second store in Mandaluyong. Good For them.

The Four Season Pizza everything look yummy and you can really see the good stuff in it.

mad
This one is there seafood pizza Hope you can see the shrimp and the squid in the picture.

The Seafood pasta

The Jumpin Jambalay was also able to buy a take out of this for my daughter. A bit salty and oily for someone like me who is watching my intake.

Their Quesadilla with Tomato Salsa really delicious and have shrimp stuffing inside unlike some that has chicken as their stuffing. Taste mild great for small kids even without the salsa it's already good.

mad This is that food I gotten and have to find a nice lighting to get the picture. My plate has a buffalo wing (which if posted is too dark and there's also another chicken dish if I remember it right said that it's barbeque chicken)

   iced tea

   buffalo wings

   nachos with fish fillet

Spaghetti meatballs with buffallo wings spicy

I really love pastas, especially when you having it with a really great friends. Pasta time is very frequent for me and my bestfriend. We tried spaghetti meatballs with buffalo wings at Uno pizzeria. The pasta was good mostly the sauce which was not that sweet and was became more yummy with the spicy meatballs and buffalo wings. It really has thrill when you eat it! We also ordered Nachos with fish fillet and it was a good quality though. I really like their nachos because it was a bit salty that's good match for the mayo which is perfect for good chit chat while having the meal. The fish fillet was tender on the other side. The meal was ended up with an iced tea that is bit sour but it really was a dinner buster for us!
