My friends and I always go here whenever we want to grab some beers and enjoy live music. We’ve already celebrated so many occasions with Sangkalan, there was a time that we brought a cake inside to celebrate our friend’s birthday and they did not even charged us for it. Place is not that big so you have to be there as early as you can because it’s always crowded during Fridays and Weekends. Beers are not that expensive, you can even get a free pulutan with every bucket of beers. Their sizzlings are great, I love their sizzling sisig. This is my number one hangout place.
Its famous neighbor always outshines this place. Its front part would always be full of people waiting to be seated... on the other establishment next door. Sure, it may be annoying for the owner most probably, but it does have its advantages. We were one of those thick-skinned bystanders who settled for this place rather than wait. Turns out that Sangkalan has good music, great service and equally good food. Will definitely come back and try the others. And this time, it won't be my second choice.
When i first heard the name of this bar i thought it was an indie, detached place. But when i had the chance to visit it was the total opposite instead, the bar catered a beach-y atmosphere. What differs them form other bars is that you can choose where to stay: if you want to sing your heart out you can stay at the videoke rooms or jam with the live band. This twist makes them popular to the hippy ones and adults.
Another surprise is uber delicious nachos. Popular as an appetizer but for now, i wanna tell the other side of this dish. To be honest, the nacho chips were so so, but the salsa pulled it to the top. The salsa was chili and cheesy. It's a viand ready to married to a hot white rice. Odd but full of taste. It doesn't stop there, this magic salsa could also be paired with their honey chicken. The kick of the chili plus the sweetness of the honey will surely make you heart skip a beat.
So the next time you want to celebrate your bday, you surely know where to go.
I decided to try Sangkalan in Timog Avenue Quezon City from the recommendation I’ve heard from my college friend. The last time i went there, I was with my cousins. We were just hanging out and chilling around. We ordered bottles of San Miguel light and my cousin ordered some pulutan which includes sizzling Sisig, Fried Shrimp and Cheese Sticks that we could all enjoy. Damage to the budget will usually range from 150.00 pesos to 300.00 pesos I don’t regret coming here. I will gladly recommend Sangkalan in Timog Avenue to my other friends!
Last December 2010, I won two gift certificates from Sangkalan Resto-Bar. So me and charlagne went there to experienced foods at Sangkalan. We used the first gift certificate which we are entitled to Grilled Pork Spare Ribs and Ensalada.Wow! that's waht we say when the foods are served to us. Sobrang laki ng serving, i think it's good for 4 person yet we are only two to eat all those foods. Because we really enjoyed the taste we ordered for additional extra rice,,as if we para kameng boys kumain. That was a fun experienced here at Sangkalan.Take a look at the pictures of their Grilled Pork Spare Ribs.
After our Christmas party my friends decided to have a round of drinks at our favorite hang out place at Panay Ave. We got their around 1am and as always the place is so packed with people and it was going to take a while before we get a place. So we tried to look for another place.
Then just around the corner was Sangkalan and there was enough space for our group (there was around 12 - 15 of us). The place looked great, there was a band playing and the atmosphere was awesome. It was also packed with people but I guess that is why its not as packed as our usual hangout because the food and drinks were a little expensive but it did not bother us as long as we had a blast.
The guys ordered Red Horse and us girls we ordered Strong Ice and the Strong Ice bucket came with a free dish and we decided to get Sizzling Mushroom which was delicious and the guys also ordered some food and I only got to taste the Tokwa which was at the middle of all the other finger food and I liked it. Too bad the guys munched on it so fast I did not get to taste the others hahaha
