Sneak a Lunch
Smile 2013-11-25
Hubby, Baby and I managed to have lunch together on a weekday. Little girl had just come home early from school and we headed off to Rubs to satisfy hubby's love of ribs. We ordered a platter of the ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and sweet, buttered corn kernels (Super Duo). The meal was good to share for two but there were three of us and we still felt full after the meal. The ribs were tender and sweet and tangy sauce. The mashed potatoes were one of the best I have ever tasted. It's seasoned well and no bland taste to it. Even my little loved it. The corn kernels were also good. It was a great meal and hubby enjoyed himself immensely since he had ribs for lunch, great job Rubs!

Delicious Spinach
Smile 2013-11-21
PRODUCT: Super Duo

SHOP: A small restaurant in Tomas Morato that serves very tasty Baby Back Ribs and a lot more.

PRICE: 350 pesos.

EXPERIENCE: A friend recommended this place years back and I keep coming back despite the size of its restaurant (quite compact) because they do serve the tastiest Baby Back Ribs I have ever tasted. Not only that, the price is very much affordable.

Super Duo comes with a whole slab of Baby Back Ribs and two side dishes. My friend picked coleslaw and spinach. I'm not much of a veggie eater but I must say those spinach are delish. tongue

Sarap to the...RIBS
Smile 2013-09-27
I can still remember the first time I had ribs at Rub Ribs & BBQ few years back. The place may be compact but the food was something you will come back for.

   Baby Back Ribs

The ribs were perfectly cooked. The flavor was just right and the meat was very tender. Apart from the taste, the prices of their dishes are very reasonable.

What's good in this place is almost all of the dishes that they serve are delicious. I like their Buffalo Wings too, some of their side dishes, and their Fried Oreos.

I don't think people mind the place because even if it's small, they are still willing to wait to be seated...like us. smile

Rub American style ribs you will enjoy
Smile 2012-12-19

Rub Ribs and BBQ located at 64 Scout Rallos, Quezon City

The ordering counter and kitchen located at the ground floor. The place is really a bit small therefore if a group of people comes in there will be no place to seat.

All the seating area are on the second floor 3 set of table for a group of 4 and 3 set of table for 2 peoples.

Rub own house blend of Ice Tea good for 4 person. Price is at P110.00 per pitcher. Have to take out the rest since there is just the 2 of us and they do not have this for 2 people only

Rub's BBQ ribs comes in single (with place rice, 1 side dish) good for 1 person Price is at P205. While the Duo has 2 side dish no rice but good for 2 Price is at P370.00 which we order and our side dish is coleslaw and grilled buttered corn. The family will cost P685.00 with 3 side dish but the ribs is good for 4.

Chicken Cajun Pasta price P200. Delicious. The chicken was the first to consume before the pasta which has the right creaminess not a bit spicy.

Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with coleslaw and french fries. Price is at P190.00 is actually a bit spicy. Since the ribs and the pasta are already heavy with have this for take out. In my opinion the chicken was not made as a whole patty since it crumble to pieces when eaten. A bit makalat for this one.

Buffalo Chicken Wing with Cheese sauce. Don't know if the cook forgot to put the sauce over the chicken wing since it was just plain fried Wings. So no need for the dipping sauce. The chicken was super crispy and delicious.

Personal view: We were able to get there at around 11:30am so there no other guest yet but gradually people come in at around 12nn and luckily it was not yet crowded. Maybe that the reason for some of the chairs outside. Hopefully in the future they can find a much bigger place in Q.C

Still Delicious despite the Size
Smile 2012-12-06
My friend and I went to Rub Ribs & BBQ to have a late lunch with her sister. We ordered Super Duo for sharing. Super Duo consisted of one whole slab of baby back ribs and two side dishes of your choice. This time we picked Spinach Garlic and Roasted Garlic Mashed Potato to pair it with the ribs.

   Super Duo

I was kind of surprised to see that the serving of their side dishes became little. As I can remember, their other branch has a generous serving of Spinach garlic. Well, despite the portion, I still enjoyed the food especially the ribs which were very tender and full of flavor. Rub Ribs has never failed me. tongue

   Buffalo Wings

Rub Ribs & BBQ serves delicious food may it be rib, side dishes, dessert, and Buffalo wings. I like their Buffalo wings even if it's a bit too hot than the usual Buffalo wings that I like. It's not crispy compared to Don Henrico's but it's still good and very much satisfying.

I sure hope that Rub Ribs & BBQ here in Tomas Morato would expand their dining place because it's really small and if you're unfortunate, you might wait for a long time to be seated.

Smile 2012-10-23
This place serves one of the most affordable ribs ever. Most of my friends would often go here and I'd be happily tagging along. A lot of people would really flock to this place because it fills you up without having to spend so much. There are liberal amounts of sauce and their side dishes never fail to disappoint. I would really recommend this place for people who are on the lookout for good food that are affordable.

Hanging out at RRB
Smile 2012-09-22 (Related Review)
I just love snacking foods such as chips, peanuts and food that I can pick with my large fingers. I'm already going

home early from school when I decided to go to tomas morato for some meryenda. I just love the foods there but

RRB still has my heart and my tummy because of their great tasting food. I ordered a plate to have something to

nibble on and I just love it. smile

I ordered nacho chips and some dips to go with it. I just love the nachos crunch and how well they were prepared.

The dips are also good because I love the salsa sauce the the mildness of the mayonnaise. I was really satisfied

with my afternoon snack and RRB made it happen. smile

The best and most affordable BABY BACK RIBS!
Smile 2012-09-21
There are a lot of restaurants who serve Barbecue Ribs but for me there is only one who have the best- RUB Ribs & Bbq. It is a hole in the wall restaurant located at Scout Rallos Tomas Morato Quezon City. My girlfriend loves it too. We always order for Super Duo. For only P350, Ribs is good for two plus you get to choose for two side dish.

Ours is mashed potato and garlic spinach. The ribs is steamed well that it was so easy to separate from the bone. It was marinated perfectly and the barbecue sauce was one of the best. Side dishes were also good. You would say that the recipe were well thought of. I guess they did not copied it from recipe books.

Smile 2012-09-21
Oreos are my addiction. I already told rejille that this is one of my favorite snacks of all. She knew this for a long time

so she decided to treat me for desserts after we had dinner on one of the restaurants in tomas morato. We walked

for a few minutes before we landed to a restaurant called Rubs Ribs & BBQ. I was kind of curious to what desserts

they will be serving in a restaurant specializing on BBQ. Well I don't want to stole rejille's thunder as she insist that

we go in so that we could eat already. I didn't hesitate any further and proceed inside the restaurant. smile

To my surprise the dessert that rejille is talking about is fried oreos. I had one of these before from other restaurant

but I don't know the taste of it here in rubs. I tried a spoonful of it and I immediately fell in love with it. It was really

good. The fried oreos was fried perfectly and still retaining its former glory from the filling to the biscuit. The ice

cream on top is really not that necessary because the oreos alone is already sweet, creamy inside and pack with

flavors. I just love this dessert and of course my gf rejille. smile

Rub My Ribs!

   Ribs and Corn

Price Php 205 for Singles BBQ Ribs

Description Barbecue glazed ribs served with rice and side dish of kernel corn.

Personal Review They have Dr. Pepper! That was the first thing I noticed. Was so happy I knew I was going to enjoy my stay here. Rub Ribs is a simple no frills restaurant. The ambiance is relaxed and the specialty is Baby Back Ribs. I was debating whether to get the single or double ribs but the staff said I may not finish the double since it serves two. So I got the single order of BBQ Ribs with corn kernels as my side dish. Hubby ordered the Smoked Pork Belly.

Took a while for my ribs to arrive but I was patiently waiting while sipping my Dr. Pepper smile The ribs were quite long and really glazed with the barbecue sauce. The corn kernels were also plenty. I gave my rice to hubby and a portion of the ribs. The sauce is quite sticky and sweet with a tangy taste of barbecue sauce. The ribs were good, tender and almost fall off the bones. The corn was the canned kind but still perfect with my ribs. They also offer mashed potatoes, vegetables, potato salad and coleslaw for side dishes.

Love this place, definitely worth coming back for. The ribs are pretty inexpensive but the flavors are full.

My Kind of Oreos

 Rub Ribs & BBQ

A casual dining restaurant located in the busy street of Tomas Morato that serves ribs, barbecue, and a lot more.

   Fried Oreo

Price: P150

Description: 5 pieces Oreo cookies covered with pancake batter (I think), deep fried served with vanilla ice cream on top and chocolate drizzle.

Personal Review: Rub Ribs & BBQ has become one of my favorite restaurants here in Tomas Morato, Quezon City. Even if their place is quite small, that didn't stop me from going back here because they have mouth-watering meals.

Today, my friends and I just want to get dessert because we had dinner elsewhere. Luckily, even if it was peak hours, we were able to get a seat immediately.

We ordered my favorite Fried Oreo. To be honest, I have already tried similar dessert from somewhere else and so far, Rub's has the Best Fried Oreo. Maybe because the batter was cooked well. It was golden brown, crispy, and it was still hot when it was served to us.

You really need to eat it right away to appreciate it more. The combination of hot and cold of this dessert were just perfect. I'll never get tired of eating this.

I heard that they have another branch in Pasig and one of the attendants said that the place there is way much bigger. Maybe someday I could drop by to see it for myself. I just hope that the quality of the food is the same. smile

Rub Ribs and BBQ
Smile 2012-01-16
Went to Rub in Tomas Morato just recently to try their buffalo wings. Rub is known for their bbq ribs which are soft and tender as what other reviews state but we decided to try their wings first.

The place was just a small area with a second floor. It also had tables and chairs outside when times they are full packed. When we went there on a Sunday afternoon, the place was full but luckily we were able to get a seat upstairs.

We ordered for their buffalo wings with bleu cheese as their dip.

One order comes in 8 half pieces or 4 whole wings. I love how there's a subtle kick of spiciness on every bite and the bleu cheese was just perfect to go along with it. It was a classic buffalo style wing as it didn't have that sweetness on it.

The skin was not that crispy though but we loved it just the same.

We will definitely be back to Rub for some wings and ribs next time smile

RUBbing your Tummy after Eating
Smile 2011-10-24
I read this one article in Reader's Digest that after eating you must rub your abdomen to help digest the food that you ate. For me, I do this to my tummy whenever I get satisfied with the food that I ate. I just did that yesterday after having a late lunch with some friends at Rub Ribs and BBQ. tongue

Nowadays, it is very popular buying vouchers online to get amazing discounts to almost everything that you want. From gadgets, to spas, massages, clothes, accessories, hotels, getaway trips, and of course, restaurant deals. I was so delighted that one of those online vouchers offer 50% off to my favorite steak place.

I invited my friends to have lunch there and luckily one of them hasn't tried it before. So it was a real treat for all of us because I get to have a great deal and she gets to experience it.
tongue

Since it was my treat, I took in-charge in ordering our food. It wasn't so hard because before coming there, I have already made my choice what to order. It was a good thing that I was already prepared because the place was packed. And I saw most of them were also using the vouchers. This place is beginning to be very popular even if the place is really, really, small. It's the good food that they serve made us their customers come back for more. smile

For our appetizers, I ordered their Buffalo Wings (P235) with Blue Cheese Dip.

   Buffalo Wings

It was amazing. The sauce was extra spicy but it was good. The chicken meat was cooked evenly that made the chicken tasted even better. But the Blue Cheese deep made the entire appetizer next to perfection. Five Spoons for you. smile

As for our main course, I ordered their Super Duo (P350). This meal has one whole slab of baby back ribs, and two types of side dishes. I chose Buttered Corn (my favorite) and Garlic Mashed Potato.

   Super Duo

As expected, the baby back rib was so tender and full of flavor. My friend (the one who hasn't tried eating there yet) also agreed. I have tried Buttered Corn before and I still love eating it with my ribs. The two of them was really perfect with each other. But when I ate the Garlic Mashed Potato, it was heavenly. It wasn't too salty and it wasn't at all bland. The flavors was just right.

Fried Oreo Cookies with Vanilla Ice Cream

Finally, my favorite, dessert time. I ordered their famous Fried Oreo Cookies with Vanilla Ice Cream (P140). Like the first time, I loved it because of the chewy cookie inside the batter. It may look too sweet but it was just right after having a hearty meal. Definitely gone in less than five minutes. tongue

I give five spoons to everything. I heard that the service crew told one customer that they are going to branch out in Pasig. This only means that they are doing well. smile

I want to RUB it in
Smile 2011-08-01
I have a friend who just came back from Singapore for a one-week vacation.  When I went there, she was one of my hosts so I told her that when she gets home here, I’m going to take her to dinner wherever she wants.

She told me that there is this place in Timog that serves good baby back ribs.  She read a review in the internet.  I haven’t heard about it before which made it more exciting because it would be our first time to actually check out the place.

 Rub Ribs & BBQ

My friend (not the balikbayan one) and I got there first.  The place is called RUB Ribs and BBQ.  So we decided to go inside, get a nice spot, and order food.

 The Beatles

The place was quite small.  A two-story establishment that has roughly 6 tables only.  Good thing we got a place before it got crowded.  The place was inspired by American diners wherein you see pictures of famous people with quotable quotes about life and music.  There were pictures of famous artists/singers like the Beatles, James Dean, Bob Marley and many more.  You could immediately assume that their food is western style.

 Rub Menu

I ordered what they called Singles (P199) that contained of half slab of baby back rib, a choice of one side dish and rice.  There were a lot of side dishes to choose from and I chose Bacon and Potato Salad for my rib.

Rib, Potatoes, and Grilled Buttered Corn

I know it said half slab but for a petite person like me, it looked big enough to be shared by two persons.  The side dish also has a very generous serving.  When I started to cut the meat, it was soft and really tender.  And the taste, it was really good and wasn't overcooked.  The sauce was delicious.  It wasn’t those typical BBQ sauces that tasted more of “sour-y” than sweet and spicy which I really love.

Since I liked my rib so much, I ordered extra siding of what they called Grilled Buttered Corn (P65).  The corn was already shredded and was placed in a small bowl.  It was good with my rib because the corn tasted a bit sweet and “buttery”.  I could say two thumbs up for my baby back rib.

 Chicken Cajun Pasta

I wish I could say the same with my friend’s meal.  She got their Chicken Cajun Pasta (P270).  It’s fettuccine pasta topped with white sauce, some herbs or spices I guess and grilled chicken.  What I think lacking in her food was the taste.  I mean there wasn’t any saltiness in it despite our effort in putting some salt and pepper.  Although it was white sauce pasta, I couldn’t find any hint of creaminess in her food.  However, the grilled chicken was good so we ended up eating the chicken separately and dipped it to our BBQ Sauce.

When our balikbayan friend came, she ordered their super duo (P350), similar to mine but it was one whole slab of baby back ribs, two side dishes and rice.

When we were done with our meal, the waiter suggested that we try their desserts Fried Oreo cookies with Vanilla Ice Cream (P150) and their dessert for the day, Coffee Crème Brulee (P140).  Thank God we did because their Fried Oreo Cookies with Vanilla Ice Cream deserved an applause.  I wasn't able to take a picture of it because we were all too excited to take a bite.

The batter that was coated in the cookie is similar to cookie dough and the Oreo cookie inside the batter is super chewy.  The trick in eating this dessert is to cut a small portion of the fried oreo cookie, put a small amount of vanilla ice cream and viola!

Our overall food experience was great but we needed to go somewhere else to continue our chit-chat because the place was small and there were a lot of people so we can barely hear each other.

I'm definitely going back there because there are more dishes I wish to try like their Buffalo Wings which looked very tasty, and Caesar Salad. Until our next visit. tongue
