It has been a tradition of ours that after our movie dates, we get to have our well-deserved tummy-filling-session. While hunting for our next prospect, we got a chance to pass by Peri-Peri with a beaming charcoal chicken on its logo. Curiosity got us and that alone made us decide to try their chicken -- a new chicken experience for us!
At first we thought that the theme of the resto was Mexican with gold-painted side-walls and bricks but as we read on their menu, we learned that they serve Portuguese-style grilled chicken -- Portuguese it is, then!
The ambiance of the resto was cozy and warm - a good way to set our mood for eating. Framed photos of happy people were also all around the place, this added to the total feel of the resto. The space and tables were small though-- wish they could have table covers (a suggestion only).
And what about the charcoal chicken that made us decide to dine here in the first place? Their menu says that peri-peri chicken is trimmed of excess fat, marinated for 24 hours and charcoal grilled, so guests can enjoy a delicious and healthy food. The best thing about their menu is that they offer combo and platter meals good for 2-3 persons -- a plus point for us since we love to share our orders.
We chose the Kiddie Meal
(peri chicken, java rice, ham and cheese croquette). The chicken had strong flavors which was good but the chicken part was small -- can't complain since it's called kiddie meal. Haha! Good thing the java rice was delish as well as the cheese croquette. Just wish that there was more cheese in them to satisfy our craving for cheese.
We also had Pasta Platter 1
(peri chicken, alfredo pasta), and mango shake. The pasta was kind of dry -- should've had more creamy sauce. The taste and presentation were just fine. We think they should put more effort with the food they serve. But the fresh mango juice saves the order as it was sweet and refreshing.
We found their service quite poor. There were only a few customers but it took them a long time to accommodate requests. But the new chicken experience was worth remembering.
