I miss the Filling
Just OK 2013-11-27
I bought which I thought was Napoleones from Napoleones. It's not square cut. It's more like shaped in thick sticks. When I ate one piece, the texture and the taste were a lot the same with Napoleones...a bit flaky but sweet. When I'm already halfway, I noticed there wasn't any cream in it.

I went back to the store and apparently I bought something that is similar to Napoleones but no cream filling. I forgot what's it called but I like Napoleones more because of the cream.

An officemate gave me a box of Napoleones pastries as a New year present. The box of Napoleones looks really delicious and tempting to give in.

When I finally had a bite of it, the bread is so soft and tasty. It was sweet because of the icing on top of it with a little creamy effect in every bite. It is best for sharing and good as dessert. It was my first time to try Napoleones and I liked it.

Creamy and Sweet --- Napoleones
Smile 2011-07-12

Recently, we just discovered another love of our life --- Napoleones. tongue

Simply delicious. lol It's sweet, which is okay for dessert or a light snack. It has the creamy filling inside, and the sugar-glazed coating on top. It's crust is like buko pie crusts. Easy to bite. Although a little little bit of messy when the crust gets crushed, but still manageable.

It's quite affordable also ---, sold for 6 pieces at Php 100. They also have larger box of a dozen, sold for Php 200. It can last for 24 hours at room temperature. And then you can still store it at the refrigerator for the next couple of days and it is still "delish"... lol

They have a food cart at Megamall, building A, at the lower ground floor, near the escalator at the middle.

It's perfect for pasalubong. Now that I'm writing about it, it made me excited to go home later to eat my remaining 3 pieces of Napoleones, just bought last night for me by my hubby.

"Yumminess!"

A Sweet Treat
Smile 2011-07-07
It has been a little over a year since becoming a frequent customer of Napoleones. I had been looking for delicacies from Bacolod and learned that one such store was in Megamall. It was a bit hard to find the store and I eventually found it's little store tucked in a little corner beside the escalator. After trying one batch of the dozen box, I just has to come back for more.

   The one dozen box

Napoleones is a small sweet pastry. It's top is covered with a hefty amount of sugar icing while the center is a custard pressed between two layers of sweet dough. There's a rush of flavors as you chew it from each section of the napoleones making it one of the most delectable pastries I''ve tried. While this pastry is small it is actually very sweet and after a few bites and I'm ready to drink water to refresh myself and go for some more lol

Comparing it's size to my fingers

I also found the vendor's always so polite and courteous. I find myself talking a little to them a bit while they prepare the box and napoleones.

   Looking for the custard filling

There are times when they get sold out pretty fast. In special day's like Mother's Day and Christmas season, I was shocked to learn that they were already out of stock around lunch time. The vendor will say if there are any stock incoming within the day, which may take a few hours, or the new stock will come tomorrow instead.

For a store that only sell's one product, it's doing a good job at it. I only hope Roli's Bakeshop serves more products aside from Napoleons tongue

Bacolod's pride =)
Smile 2010-10-05
Im not really sure what kind of pastry this is. All I know it is a specialty from Bacolod and the first time I tasted this is when we provided accommodation to two youth that attended the youth congress at our Church. They were both from Bacolod and brought us a box of this delicacy and I enjoyed it although the pastry puff was a little difficult to bite.

Then to my usual route from work to Megamall I found this stall near the escalator and a little near to the entrance of the mall called Napoleones. I went over and saw that it looked exactly like the one I tasted and so I had to try it. The temptations I go through everyday ahahalol. It was worth Php17 each and you can also buy it in boxes, but then I just bought one to give it a try.

Well, it was worth buying it and even tasted better than the one I tasted that was brought all the way from Bacalod. This pastry was not difficult to munch on it was actually a little crunchy then once you bite the center it becomes deliciously soft, and the pastry was stuffed with the creamy custard filling and topped of with the white crystal like icing on top.

I would recommend that this joint should add coffee as well, I think it would go well with the sweetness of the pastry. But then again, it was just a stall more of a pasalubong stand and on the go finger food. Maybe next time I would buy a box then enjoy it at home with a cup of coffee LOL.lol
