Coming from our semestral break, my food buddy Sean and I decided to start the semester by grabbing some lunch from Mom and Tina's in Regis. Both of us ended up eyeing the same dish.

   Paella Valenciana

Price: P275
Description: Tomato-based paella served with mussels, fish fillet and shrimps

Review:

I loved how the serving size of the paella was really filling (I wasn't able to finish it); and I had to commend the neat plating it had. However, taste-wise, it was just alright for me. I know that Mom and Tina's can't really compete with authentic Spanish restaurants in the metropolis; but I have to honestly say that it was just passable for me. It tasted good, but was quite lackluster. The mussels tasted really great though! On the other hand, the shrimps that it was served with didn't seem to be that fresh.

Mom and Tina's Bakery offers a lot of unique and pleasant surprises. For instance, the bread rolls (as shown on the photo) that accompanies their main dishes are not the typical "monay" mula sa mga bakery sa kanto. Other bakeshops still have those "monay" type rolls such as French Baker to name a few. Anyway, Mom and Tina's don't have those, instead they have this soft cinnamon-like bread na soft and very delicious.

Good morning Mom and Tina!
Smile 2012-09-21
I am not a morning person. I wake up late morning so I always skip breakfast. But, whenever I am lucky to open my eyes as soon as the sun rises up, the best breakfast place for me is Mom & Tina’s Bakery Café at Katipunan. The place feels homey plus the breakfast dishes are really great! One of the best I always order is U.S. Beef Tapa (P205).

The beef is well marinated and was fried to perfection. It comes with fried rice, scrambled egg and tomatoes. This brightens up my morning and makes my day perfect. So, better start your day at Mom and Tina’s Bakery Café.

Mom and Tina's sell some good

pastries and other stuff a bakery have.

I can not say something bad about their bakeshop

since the first time i tried it i never encounter or had a bad experience

with them. They have earned my trust and so i

decided to try out something i never had before.

We had this penne white sauce just last month

and i could say i've totally fallen in love with this store.

seriously, it's so good and i liked the thick pasta that went well

with the creamy and milky sauce.

I can't wait to try out other dishes from Mom and Tina's

 Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe

A casual dining place that serves not just amazing desserts but delicious meals as well.

   Sugar-Free Mini Mango Cream Pie

Price: P145

Description: Traditional Mango cream pie but sugar-free

Personal Review: It does look delicious from the pastry selection. It was overflowing with cream topped with mango balls.

The cream pie was good. I enjoyed it because the mangoes were sweet and the base of the pie was soft and crumbly. However, since it was a sugar-free dessert, there's an odd after taste in every bite.

It's like having coffee with Equal instead of white or brown sugar. First sip is sweet but after a few seconds, there is that artificial sweetness.

I am craving for something sweet after our yummy dinner at Pino so we headed to Katipunan (the place where we spent our college years). We planned to try the new restos around that during our didn't exist (way back 7 years ago) so for starters, we've decided Mom and Tina's.
My friends and I were so overwhelmed with all the desserts in front of us that we couldn't decide what to have and also we couldn't decide where to sit because the place is so cozy that it has a homey feel.

So when we have agreed where we should be seated, that's the only time we were ready to take our orders. Here's what we have:

Mia's cheesecake, it really tasted so rich and you can't get enough of it.

My sansrival, it tasted just like the normal sansrival that you can buy at Goldilocks or Red Ribbon.. it's my favorite so I really don't care as long as it's sansrival I know I'll love it.

She's beehive, it's soooo sweet I tell you. It's kinda the same as a cupcake the only difference is that it was coated with chocolate beehive. smile but still it's yummy.

I wanted to buy something for my mom after we ate ours but the store closes by 10pm and we were still there chatting until 1030pm. hahaha.. smile

Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe's dishes are exquisite in taste but their portions are really small. So the customers won't get tired of eating their dish that's why they serve small servings? Well, we really don't know.

I have been to this place like three times already and I must admit, even if the serving is minimal, I don't mind going back here because their food are delicious.

   Baked Chicken Macaroni

I ordered their Baked Chicken Macaroni which was highly recommended by a friend. As expected, the portion was very little but the taste was divine. It has a very generous serving of cheese. The pasta was cooked well. It wasn't soggy.

I enjoyed the chicken chunks also. It blended well with the melted cheese. But I just want to commend something in this entire dish, I love the bread. It was different. It wasn't the typical toasted bread with garlic or butter. It was soft but very delicious.

Despite its size, I still give five spoons for this pasta. smile

Girls' Day Out
Just OK 2012-01-16
For my birthday lunch, I decided to try out Mom and Tina's in Regis Center along Katipunan together with my own mom smile and some dear friendssmile

My brother was the one who recommended the restaurant to me but when I asked him what I should try out, he simply said, ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!

Because of that VERY helpful suggestion,we decided to order a little of everything and just split the meals among us.

For our appetizer, we sampled their Queso de Bola Spread. It was served with delicious toasted rolls which I enjoyed terribly! Although I'm not a big fan of Queso de Bola, I enjoyed the dip tremendously though! (What more if you're a fan right)

   Queso de Bola Spread

For salad, we opted for a solo order of their Mango Kani Salad which was really refreshingly light but simply predictable. It was just okay.

 Mango Kani Salad

For our pasta dish, we ordered their Fettuccine with Seafood Sun-dried Tomato Pesto. Although the pasta was al dente and the sauce was a nice mix of flavor; it was just okay once again. What stood out for me would be the "foccacia" muffins that they served as sidessmile That one was to-die-for!

For our meat dish, we ordered their US Roast Beef which featured tender slices of beef served with a delicious gravy, which was again....satisfying but not spectacular.

Smoked Ham

 Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe

I was glad to find out that there is a branch of Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe near our place. The first time that I have tried their food at their Pasig branch, I loved it so much.

I was able to convince my friend to have dinner there even if the parking in that place was really difficult. She agreed because she loves pasta so much and I told her that they serve really quality pasta.

 Menu

We decided to share appetizers. I gave her the liberty to choose which appetizers she wants to order. She ended up with Homemade Soup and Kani Mango Salad.

Both of her choices were really delicious. We ordered their half sizes only but we were able to share it. tongue

   Kani Mango Salad

I loved their Kani Mango Salad because their crab sticks were very flavorful. It does taste crab meat. Sometimes crab sticks that I have tried from other places didn't taste flavorful like this one. Five spoons for their salad.

   Smoked Ham Sandwich

For my main course, I ordered their Smoked Ham Sandwich. It was served in a regular hamburger bun. Also, my sandwich comes with potato chips.

The potato chips tasted like it was homemade also. It wasn't that thick but it wasn't that too thin also. It was just right. It wasn't too salty like the commercialized potato chips we get in the groceries but it was flavorful. It wasn't oily also. Five spoons for this delightful side dish.

The Smoked Ham was extraordinary. It really felt that it was Christmas. It was really delicious and the vegetables were all fresh. It may not be as big like other sandwiches that I have ordered from Gourmet Food places but the taste was worth five spoons of rating. tongue

Their servings were a bit small but we found a way to be satisfied through sharing. We wanted to try their dessert also but we'll just save it for next time. tongue

Small Portion but Big in Taste
Smile 2011-12-19
My friend told me that a couple of years ago, she and her friends attended a very simple and intimate bridal shower at Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe along Pasig City across Tiendesitas. She told me that they have great tasting pasta and sandwiches.

 Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe

Now, we are here at Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe with their other branch at Katipunan.
I will be able to try their pasta since my friend spoke highly about them.

The place was fully packed. We were wait listed but fortunately, we were first in the list. It was just a good five minutes when we got our seats.

Everything look spectacular. From the facade to the Santa Claus decorations that seemed customized from a different country. Their cake or dessert selection was really delightful to look at. There were so many kinds of cupcakes. So many pleasing colors. And the cake flavors were very tempting.

For our starters, we ordered Homemade Soup (half) and Kani Mango Salad (half).

   Homemade Soup

The Homemade Soup was really good. Actually, I forgot to ask the waiter what it was but it tasted like potato soup. It was creamy and thick. I like the roll that comes with the soup. It was so soft. It felt that it was freshly baked. It is much better than dinner rolls or garlic toasted bread. smile

   Kani Salad

Kani Mango Salad was also good. This is one of my favorite salads. The mangoes may not be as sweet but the freshness of the vegetables made this salad tastes good. The dressing was also delicious. It wasn't too sour like mayonnaise. I loved it.

For my main dish, I ordered their Baked Chicken Macaroni. Actually, they forgot to place this specific order so we waited like 10 minutes to be served right after we finished our appetizers. We didn't complain because the staff are really nice to us. They do make an extra effort to make us comfortable. The waiters make small conversations with the customers. Even the supervisor approached us and asked if we have pending orders. Good customer service also one of the reasons why people will come back to specific a shop...not just the product. smile

   Baked Chicken Macaroni

Their Baked Chicken Macaroni was really good because of the overload melted cheese on it. I liked the shredded chicken inside the pasta. I was expecting that it would be chunks but it wasn't. Also, their rolls or bread tasted so good with their pasta.

I loved the ambiance. I loved the decorations. I loved the service and most especially the food although the portion was minimal. tongue
