SHOP: A restaurant located in Maginhawa street that serves dishes with very witty and enchanted names.

PRODUCT: Kaldereta Dish

PRICE: More than 200 pesos per order without rice.

EXPERIENCE: Honestly, I'm just giving this place another shot because based on my experiences, it wasn't that pleasant.

The Kaldereta dish was delicious. It's not the usual Kaldereta with tomato based sauce. It was very tasty. The cutlets of beef were tender but the serving is very minimal.

Desset For a Cause
Smile 2013-11-26
Honestly, Gayuma Ni Maria isn't the best restaurant here in Maginhawa street. I have been to Gayuma several times now and I end up being dissatisfied. I go here because I still believe that there is that one dish I would finally love and Gayuma will redeem itself to me and my friend.

 Gayuma Ni Maria

The place was crowded (as usual) so my friend and I sat outside. It was a good thing that my friend had a bad cold because their outdoor dining area smelled awful. It smelled like a sewer or something. We can't get out anymore because our orders were already placed plus there wasn't any place inside. I didn't tell my friend anymore since she hasn't noticed it.

   Burrito

I ordered something new on their menu...Burrito with dip. I guess I have found the perfect dish that I'm looking for. The tortilla flour was soft. The meat was flavorful. The dip was one-of-a-kind. It's not the usual garlic dip that is being served in Mediterranean places. Actually, it was kind of sweet like condensed milk or something. I like the salty, sweet, and spicy flavors in one bite.

   Dessert Overload

I noticed their Dessert Section. For two hundred pesos, you get to eat-all-you can dessert and the proceeds will go to the Yolanda Victims. It was a very nice gesture so I availed one even if I was almost full.

Dessert Section has Beat Sex Any Day (brownie fudge), Apple Tarts, Pavlova, Cake (white icing topped with toffee crunch), and Cheese Torta (a delicacy from Cebu).

I didn't like the Brownie Fudge because it was too sweet. I didn't like the cake too because the toffee crunch was hard to bite. What I like were the apple tarts and Pavlova. Pavlova was like a very huge meringue topped with cream and fruits like kiwi, orange, and grapes. Since the fruits were citrus-y, I find the dessert not that sweet. I wasn't able to taste the Torta anymore because I was really full.

I went to the rest room before heading home. The rest room was located on the second floor. When I arrived there, the room didn't smell nice. It smelled like wet clothes weren't properly dried or wet carpet. When I reached their bathroom, OMG!!!! There were a lot of cockroaches on the floor. It's unbelievable. Am I still going back here after the Burrito dish, I don't know anymore unless they fully sanitize the restaurant...including the outdoor area. sad

Thirty at Gayuma
Smile 2013-11-21

My friend celebrated her 30th birthday dinner with us at Gayuma ni Maria. I have actually been to Gayuma and I find their place cozy but not suggested for kids. Gayuma ni Maria has this sexy and adult feel of the restaurants. They have this part of the resto where they sell sexual toys. So much of the toys, Gayuma ni Maria's menu is something to look about too. The name of their dishes is something to be curious about. Since we're all adult, we all had a good laugh and a full stomach with their dishes.

Gayuma Ni Maria

Hearing the name of this restaurant is actually makes it very interesting for me.

Gayuma Ni Maria...
I do not exactly know what was the history of its name but what is more important is that- I had given the chance to discover it.

I decided to try it because a friend named Makel recommended it. The location of this interesting restaurant is at 123 V. Luna Extension (Maginhawa St.) Sikatuna Village in Diliman, Quezon Ciy. When you come in here and able to have a taste of the delicious treats that they offer, you will surely not regret coming in over. And saying that, I am hundred percent sure.

Prices are also pocket friendly so it is never going to be an issue. Service is highly appreciated and they deserve lots of guests everyday!

sweet dessert from gayuma
Smile 2012-10-21
I've been always intrigued with the dishes here in gayuma ni maria because not only are they different than

most restaurant that you would see in the metro but also they are delicious like no other. Rejille and I tried

one of their dessert that is a hit with the customers since a lot of them prefer this kind of dessert after

a hearty dish from their restaurant. smile

I love how our cake was presented. The chocolate syrup drizzling over the sweet and delectable cake that we

ordered. The cake has a smooth texture and very sweet for my taste but still tolerable. A top notched dessert

to end the meal here at gayuma ni maria. smile

Beats Sex Any day
Smile 2012-10-20

If you are feeling a bit naughty for the day, it is best to try Gayuma ni Maria in Diliman. In my case, I am not really naughty or anything that day, it's just that I want to try this restaurant. I have heard so much about Gayuma ni Maria from my friends and I asked them to try it with me. I ordered the Beats Sex Any day Cake. I know that it's best with coffee so I ordered a cup, and true enough, it tastes delicious. I will go back and try their other desserts and food as well.

Dynamite
Just OK 2012-10-17
I have read in some blogs and reviews that Gayuma ni Maria is similar to Gayuma located in Katipunan but has burned down.

My friend and I went here a few times already because both of us love Gayuma so much. However, the concept of the restaurant may have retained from the original but the quality of the food didn't.

 Cheese sticks

I didn't notice dynamite in their original restaurant that's why we ordered it so there won't be any comparison or expectations. Well, it tasted okay but nothing special about this appetizer.

Tofer is the one that opened me up to gayuma ni maria after I saw his pics on facebook on what gayuma ni maria

looks like and the kind of food they are serving. I told rejille that we should go here over the weekends to try

their foods. That saturday night we have gone to that restaurant. The first thing that crossed our mind after we

entered the restaurant is that the set up is kind of artsy and naught at the same time. Its really kind of funny but

it kind of breaths fresh air as this is one of the most interesting restaurant that we've ever been to. Well the menu

looks pretty interesting as well as the food names are being changed to quotes that explain the kind of feeling you

have once you tasted their food. Well I can't wait to try it and I go to the food name that catches my eye the most. smile

We both ordered the "once you go black, you never go back" dish. I remembered that quote for a movie although I'm

not sure what it is. It is a cocoa-crusted cream dory with chocolate sauce. Wow its kind of like a dessert fish and I'm

not sure of what its gonna taste like. I took a piece of it in my mouth bravely and suddenly i was amazed. The chocolate

goes well with the cream dory. The sweetness is not that overpowering and mixes well with the moist fish. I just love

it. Now I know why tell call this dish that way. I just can't stop eating this dish. For a price of 225.00, its just a gorgeous

dish through out. smile

Gayuma ni Maria
Smile 2012-09-04
It was December 2010 when I first heard about this place. It was also December 23, 2010 when a guy first promised to take me to Gayuma. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to and Gayuma became something that I obsessed with.

When my food group decided to go there after much badgering from me, I was happy. Then things happened and I wasn't able to go with them. Gayuma now became something to covet.

Random guys, random dates, random promises of bringing me to Gayuma over the year 2011 made it more elusive. To me, it was like Gayuma was taunting me. "Hey Kathy, I'm just here. Come and get me."

I wanted Gayuma but I have lost hope of ever getting it.

Fast forward to last Friday and I was with FM hanging out at SM North. We were supposed to grab a bite to eat at some Persian place (which I wasn't such a huge fan of) when things took a turn and we ended up on our way to Gayuma.

I should have trusted my instincts and said that we can just go some other time. You see, on the way, we got lost, and lost, and took a wrong turn here and there. It was stressful. Normally, when this happens, it means that I shouldn't go to a certain place.

However, I really wanted to go to Gayuma and so after over 30 minutes of driving when it should have been 10 minutes, we saw this.

I was happy ... like giddy happy giggling like a schoolgirl inside happy. Finally, I was at Gayuma.

Gayuma was an assault on the visual senses. It was pink, and red, black and brown and decors all over. It was exactly what I envisioned it to be and what I wanted it to be. I was mesmerized and amazed. It was like being Alice in Wonderland.

Unfortunately, as with any adventure, it had to end somewhere and boy did it end. The place was packed and they had one server only. To be fair to him, he was really pleasant and charming. He tried ... but it was a vain effort. I have to commend him for trying though. Seriously. He remained charming and smiling the entire time that you'd have to be heartless to get mad at him.

FM and I settled down and got comfy with the chairs, or tried to. It seems that when dining at Gayuma, you shouldn't wear tight jeans or a short skirt unless you fancy flashing someone. We couldn't make up our minds on what to order since we had a pretty good time looking at the names of each dish which reeked of sexual overtones. In the end, we decided to get the following:

When this was served after 30 minutes, it was cold so we had to have it reheated. The taste of the chocolate crust covering the Cream Dory fish was compromised when it was reheated which was unfortunate because it was pretty good. I liked the combination of the fish (the tanginess, naks!) and the chocolate was a perfect combination.

This one reminded me of pork being immersed in pineapple sauce. It was a bit of an overkill for someone who is not a fan of pineapple but for me, it was just right. They actually used apple and beer but the effect was that of a pineapple. Weird no?

I also ordered Beats Sex Anyday (a chocolate cake that made them famous) but it took too long that we just had to cancel it. Sadness. It was the one thing I really wanted to try.

Overall, the gayuma experience is something that I'm still willing to give another try if only to allow them to redeem themselves. I would want to go there again, maybe not on a Friday night perhaps and try the chocolate cake but since its too far, I'm pretty sure this will be another unticked box on my bucket list.

Gayuma Ni Maria, a love spell for the tummy.
Smile 2012-07-26
There is art in cooking and serving the food, of course, but being surrounded with art while eating some good food is another story.

Gayuma ni Maria, the name of the place itself is enough to stir the curiosity of some. But wait till you actually arrive on the place and encounter the menu. This quaint but artistic restaurant seems to pop out from a fairytale story. Floral walls with love spells all over them, thin white sheets of clothe hang above every table and the service people are nice. There is also a wishing tree and on the side is the “naughty corner” where, as its name suggests, naughty items could be bought.

This naughtiness doesn’t stop on the corner; it is on the menu as well. Their best selling cake is called “Beats Sex Any Day” and on Wednesdays, a customer can say out loud “A 69 please!” and get a surprise meal from the chef. Almost all the food on the menu has interesting names like “Please, Be Careful With My Heart,” “He loves me, he loves me not” and “You’re too cheesy,” are just some of these . Gayuma ni Maria’s menu ranges from full meals and pastas down to the mouth-watering desserts all at affordable prices.

Upstairs is a big room for private parties that guests can rent. Japanese style tables and little hearts painted on the walls surround the place. There are also vintage clothes and accessories being sold.

Situated in Maginhawa St. in Quezon City, this homey and cozy place is the perfect place to hang out with friends or with that special someone. Take a break on the usual restaurants and experience the love spell for the tummy that Gayuma ni Maria is known for. And as always, the naughty corner is just on the corner.

Suits best for small groups but of course, the whole barkada can chill outside where there are more chairs and tables. ;)

These thin white sheets and floral tables appealed to the little princess inside me. Hihi. Girls, you know you'll want your guys to bring you here. Guys, you know the drill. LOL.

Tuliro (P135) and Beats Sex Any Day Cake (P75). My perfect afternoon delight. ;)

Two Beats Sex Anyday Cake and one cup of coffee! <3

Oh, look! There's the naughty corner. And of course, we'd all rather fall in chocolate than fall in <3. :)

The Adult's Only room on the second floor. Nice, nice, nice! The comfort room's also on the second floor so you'll definitely see this place.

 Chill outside, feel the breeze.

Gayumatized
Smile 2012-06-11

A sudden rush of wind, weird tummy sensation, feeling lost and confused boom! You are now under the spell of Maria.

Never been to a place like Gayuma. Well conceptualized and is full of passion, that's how i can describe this restaurant in a nut shell. The odd use of floral wall paper and white see through sheets to separate their tables made it even more artistic at the same time nostalgic. It's like going through your lola's chest. But the kinky station on the side made it contemporary and detached. And again, its confusion makes it more appealing to people.

And oh to top it all off, the FOOD was amazing! Thanks to their creative menu, i had a hard time choosing what food to satisfy me.

Tried:

Once You go Black, You can never go back.- Cocoa crusted cream dory with chocolate sauce.

Amen to this dish, and YES you can never go back to your usual "cream dory fillet." It's complex taste will satisfy you right away. Best to eat it slowly so that you enjoy the different treat it offers.

Next:
Nilasing ni Eba si Adan- Pork loin dish in marinade of beer and apple.

title gives you a tipsy feeling, but it's a christmasy dish in reality Taste like hamonado with a different twist, makes you remember the good old Yuletide Season.

Gayuma ni Maria gayumatized me indeed! The whole package deserves a perfect 10/10. Hope all of you will try it soon! smile

XOXO,
Satisfied Costumers smile

Very Dry

 Naughty By Nature

An intriguing restaurant located Diliman123 V. Luna Extension (Maginhawa St.) Sikatuna Village, Quezon City which serves somehow romantic or kinky named food tongue

I Love You, Cross My Heart

Price: P 195

Description: Chicken breast topped with cheese, asparagus, and mushrooms served rice.

Personal Review: Gayuma was then a popular resto located at Katipunan. I loved everything about it that it broke my heart when it was already out of business. I wished that they somehow just decided to move the restaurant in another location, low and behold they did! lol We decided to eat there one night. I was glad that they were able to maintain the same ambience that I like from the old Gayuma place. The “Naughty Nook” was still there where kinky stuff were being sold for “adventurous” couples tongue But then, a lot changed. Aside from the name itself (it is now called Gayuma ni Maria), the Japanese style tables were replaced by tables with canopies. It was nice but I kind of miss the coziness of those Japanese Style tables where you can just “Indian sit” all the way from dinner to dessert. lol But the biggest change I would say would be the taste of the food. I ordered I Love You, Cross My Heart, which is chicken fillet topped with cheese. Honestly, it was dry and bland. I didn’t finish what I ordered and not because of the generous serving but because of the disappointing taste. I would say that their “gayuma” didn’t work on me this time.sad

I Think Mom will love Gayuma ni Maria
Just OK 2012-05-04

 Gayuma ni Maria

My mom would truly giggle once she dines in here with dad at Gayuma ni Maria. The names of their dishes are witty, sometimes naughty, but more often than not, sexy. tongue

The place is unique. It's like eating in an enchanted place. I have tried eating here already and the food was all right. This time, I'm back to see if it's true. If it does beat sex any day. tongue

 Beats Sex Any Day

Well, the dessert is composed of brownie drizzled with chocolate syrup all over and frosting. The dessert was too sweet for me. I think I enjoyed their Twisted Pavlova more than their Beats Sex Any Day.

I am looking forward to experience more of their crazy dishes and desserts in the future. tongue

A Seduction at Gayuma ni Maria
Smile 2012-04-30
People have always been drawn to the mysteries and taboo ideas of witchcraft and old wive’s tales, particularly ones that involve the play in the laws of love and attraction.

It is no wonder then that Gayuma ni Maria invites intrigue for would-be diners, even if it moved from its old place in the Katipunan area to its new home in Maginhawa Street in Quezon City.

Gayuma literally translates to “love potion” or “love spells and charms”. Items that are much sought after by hapless individuals whose confession of love is not reciprocated by their object of affection. This is probably why Gayuma ni Maria is quite popular to the curious and romantic in spirit.

With a lighted sign and flirty names of food that greet you on its entrance, it does seem like the right place to get that charm to lure your intended victim

One glance inside and the alluring feminine colors complimented by bewitching spells and sensual innuendos give away that this Gayuma is more to lure the elusive perfect man

This trip was with a foodie troop that had a reservation for the second floor. It can house a group of 20, all cozied up in throw pillows and low tables. Garments from old are stored in a rustic closet. It felt like each dress had a soul living in it, waiting to possess anyone foolish enough to try it on (In this trip, yes a few people did try it on. Let’s just say they were really taken over by seductive spirits )

It’s the food, however, that plays the star in this ordeal. Specifically, the captivating food names. Like for starters: You’re too Cheesy: cheesy sizzling plate with crushed native fish from the highlands complemented by crackers, and Lumpiang Barako: melted cheese stuffed in hot green pepper, wrapped and fried.

Sizzling cheese is good and creamy contrasted by the saltiness of the fish. As for the Lumpiang Barako, it is definitely not for the faint of heart. One bite has sent some heading to the bathroom all teary eyed deceived by its harmless appearance. But if this is the excitement you look for in your food, this is for you

And we’re just getting warmed up

Pastas like Mi Amore (PHP 225.00): a sensually meaty version of bolognese and N.B.S.B (No Boyfriend Since Birth) (PHP 215.00): Pesto-like cream pasta) are nice and light that could attract the ladies.

For men (or women with the taste for meat ), here are a few to check out:

Rock me, Baby! (PHP 265.00): Succulent pork ribs with vegetables and your choice of rice or mashed potato.

Three’s a Crowd (PHP 205.00): One long and meaty barbecue stick with different barbecue blends, complemented by rice and salsa.

Overall, the main course experience will leave anyone satisfied, but no gastronomic seduction is complete without desserts:

From bottom to top:

Broken Promises: Like a giant crinkle. Cold and crumbling, like the name implies

All Night Long: Coffee-mocha cake. No need for further description

Beats Sex Any Day: This is the chocolate dessert that made Gayuma famous back in their Katipunan days.We leave it up to you to decide as each person’s basis for sex may be different

The names of the dishes alone can keep you coming back, but the only way you will want to is if you get to seduce friends or a willing victim to share the indulgence. Either way, you will always come back yearning for more

Cake and Coffee

 Prepare to be Enchanted

A very eclectic restaurant that serves food with very unique names that are cute and adorable.

   Twisted Pavlova and Brewed Coffee

Price: Twisted Pavlova (P90)
Brewed Coffee (P65)

Description: Twisted Pavlova is a type of cake that is made of egg white and cream. It has fruits such as grapes, peaches, and strawberries in an on it.

Personal Review: I am not really a big fan of fruits when it comes to desserts. I usually get chocolate or any safer desserts rather than this but it was well recommended by a close friend. The cake was delicious. It is somewhat a little sweet but it was a good thing that I have brewed coffee that isn't that strong. I enjoyed eating the cream so much together with the grapes.

I just noticed that the service isn't that prompt. We even reminded them for our dessert because we were waiting for almost 5 minutes from the time we ordered it.
