After hearing Mass, we were too tired to prepare dinner and were already so hungry so we decided to just eat out. We chose to eat at a simple Chinese restaurant near our home, a mere 5-minute drive -- at Causeway Restaurant at Congressional Ave.
Causeway Seafood Restaurant
The restaurant was full! There was even a birthday celebration near our table. We were seated near the counter, by the service area - a not so good spot. The banging, clanging of plates, glasses, utensils was an earache. That didn't stop us though from eating to our heart's content! Service was okay considering the number of diners they had to attend to.
The food we ordered came after just a few minutes. Speaking of food... these were what we had that night:
Sweet and Sour Pork.
Sweet and Sour Pork
- the staple Chinese dish. Haha! The pork was tender, well cooked and flavored. The vegetables were also well done, still crunchy and not soggy, and the sauce: delicious! Just the right mix of sweet and sour. You can even put the sauce on the rice.
Sliced Beef with Ampalaya.

The beef was also tender, sliced thinly and easy to cut. The sauce wasn't too salty or tasted like MSG like from other Chinese restaurants. The mushroom bits were also good, added to the flavorful dish. This was finished in a matter of minutes. Haha!
Steamed Prawn with Garlic.
Steamed Prawn with Garlic
This was one dish we've tried for the first time, and glad we have! The big, pink, plump shrimp easily came off the shell! The presentation was nice too. The shrimp was halved, laid in the plate with its shell, topped with sauteed garlic and some green garnish. Each piece was yummy! the garlic wasn't too strong, tasted just right.
The ribs were fried to crispiness yet soft on the inside. It was too spicy for our taste buds though but was hit for dad who liked spicy food!
Our Chinese restaurant experience would not be complete without the different dumplings!
The Crab Roe Siomai
was packed, filling and tasty! A few bites and you're set for the main course! The Kutchay Dumpling
was also good -- the white outside cover was filled with green leafy veggies: healthy and delish! You can never go wrong with Sharkfin Dumplings
! This is also a staple order for us. Hehe!
We can never get tired of it! As well as the Chicken Feet
-- ordered 2 of these (proves how much we like 'em.
) Munching the meat of the thin bones is just great. Haha!
We were sooo full by the end of our meal! We finished every last bit -- except for the rice -- had no room for it. Hehe! Despite the noise, we still enjoyed our dinner - together as a family.
