Whenever I go home from work, I always notice Causeway Restaurant. I've never eaten there and since I love Chinese food, I knew we had to had my daughter's birthday at Causeway. I did not feel the need to reserve a table for 13, we just decided to drop by for lunch.
The place was only half full when we got there and the head waiter, I cannot remember his name, was so happy to see us it's as if we were his loyal customers
He seated us near the back of the restaurant where the big round tables were located. Our table had a lazy susan in the middle (a good sign to me in a Chinese Restaurant). We ordered several items since there were so many us;
- Pork Siomai
- Chicken feet
- Sea king roll
- sharks' fin siomai
- crab and corn soup
- Yang Chow
- Steamed Lapu lapu
- Beef in Oyster sauce (Chinese is not complete without this dish!)
- Braised noodles with assorted seafood
It's a good thing they had that lazy susan, it seemed to me that it never stopped rolling! The steamed lapu lapu was amazing! The meat was so tender and fresh! It's a good thing we came early because they almost ran out of lapu lapu! Of course, my expectations were high when it came to the beef in oyster sauce. This is one of my all time favorite dish. I tell you, I was not disappointed!
The noodles were also good, but it was overshadowed by the accompanying seafood. Don't eat it together with the rice so you can get the full flavor of their noodles. The whole time we were eating the head waiter made sure that we were well taken cared of. I was glad that he was our waiter.
When we were almost done, I asked the head waiter if it was ok if we served the chocolate cake that we brought along since it was my daughter's birthday. He seemed as excited as me and said that they would even give us new plates and forks. He himself placed the candles in the cakes and told me to sit down.
When I sat down, the waiter played the birthday song on their stereo component! And all the waiters sang for my daughter! It was so much fund that the whole restaurant sang with us and also clapped their hands when my daughter blew her candles. Man, I really wish I remembered his name, we gave him a generous tip because of the service he gave us.
For me, this is the best restaurant my daughter ever had birthday in. The staff at Causeway really made her day so much fun. Up to now, I can still picture the whole restaurant singing happy birthday
Thanks Causeway, and a million thanks to you head waiter! We will surely visit this place again!
