Alberto's Pizza

There’s a new craze now, aside from Siomai sa Tisa in Fuente or Larsian’s Barbecue, it’s called Alberto’s Pizza. My colleagues and even my boss told us that there’s a pizza place in town that’s fairly new and has good tasting pizza; not to mention the cost is way cheaper than Da Vinci’s Pizza.

So during out lunch, we went out to eat there. I was too tired that I didn’t even care so long as I could get my stomach full cause I didn’t have enough sleep for the past 2 days due to the enrollment process.

Anyway, indeed the pizza was very affordable. You can get a 9″ pizza for as low as 75 bucks. We chose the 11″ of course since there were many of us. You can choose between Mozzarella or QuickMelt Cheese and we chose the latter because that’s what one of our team mates recommended.

They’re even open until 2am and even at that hour, there are still a lot of people who’d drop by and order. To think that they just started, Alberto’s pizza business is really booming; look at what a word of mouth can bring.

After going to Sunday Night Mass, I happen to pass by Alberto’s Pizza A. S. Fortuna Branch, so I decided to drop by and order Hawaiian pizza and Meat Lovers Pizza. Definitely a very delicious pizza - 4 out of 5 in terms of taste and 5 out of 5 when it comes to pricing. However I happen to heard the crew answering the phone saying “ sir kadiyot ra kaayo sir mga 30mins lang ma deliver namo “ after hearing that I was just puzzled how come when you call for a delivery they would guarantee the customer for a 30 mins, but when I order for a dine-in it took me 45mins to wait for my pizza.

However, as a friend of mine who happen to talk to one of the owners before she shared to me a short history of Albertos pizza, while we are still waiting for our order. Alberto’s Pizza, a Cebu grown Pizza Company has its humble beginning at B. Rodriguez St., Cebu City across Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center hospital. A group of friends looking for ways to augment their income thought of establishing a small business. After a lot of brainstorming, they decided to put up a pizza parlor aimed at delivering pizza to the customer’s doorstep. Armed with limited funds and boundless enthusiasm, Alberto’s Pizza finally became a reality on February 28, 2008.

The owners wanted the business to be different from the existing competition thus the creation of a very affordable yet high quality pizza. Because of limited store space, the owners concentrated on delivery and soon after, doctors, interns, nurse and staff of the neighboring hospitals craved for a pizza delivery. After a few months of operation, Alberto’s pizza became a buzzword. People from all walks of life flocked to the store to dine in or take out their favorite pizza.

In less than a year, Alberto’s Pizza opened its first branch in Mabolo and from then on other branches followed. A total of 13 stores were opened to serve the public: eight in Cebu City and one each in Talisay, Minglanilla, Lapulapu, Mandaue and Consolacion. Possible outlets outside Cebu are presently being considered.

The business already has its share of ups and downs but Alberto’s Pizza, a uniquely Cebuano phenomenon continues its mission of serving the public with a good quality and very affordable pizza and providing decent jobs to less fortunate people. Presently, steps are continually being taken to improve its quality and service.
Alberto’s Pizza is something all Cebuanos can be proud of.
